William Reilly passed away peacefully at Robert Packer Hospital on July 2,2021.
“Reilly” was born April 27, 1945 in Utica NY to Gerald J Reilly and Marion Howe Reilly. Reilly attended St. Mary's school in Corning through 8th grade before transferring to Northside Blodgett. He graduated from Northside in 1963.
He had many jobs after graduating. Reilly moved to Binghamton in the late 70's where he owned and operated a successful bar, the "Sail Inn". After moving back to Corning in the late 90's he continued his career at the Red Cross then at General Revenue Company where he was top collector for many months and won many awards.
Reilly had so many great friends through the years. He was grateful to have found family in some of these friendships, most notably with Andy and Lee Havalchak, Jack and Vicke Hooey, Lisa and Ryan Caslin and all of their families.
He loved watching all sports. Reilly traveled to many football and lacrosse games, rarely missing a game that Greg played and never missing a game that Ryan played. Through the years, Reilly enjoyed watching the children and grandchildren of his friends grow up. Reilly had a special bond with Charlie. Recently he loved being “Uncle Reilly” to his special "Grandnieces" all 9 of them, especially Maya and Caroline. He looked forward to going to the beach every year with the Havalchaks.
He was actively involved in politics, volunteering for many campaigns over the years.
Reilly was a member of All Saints Parish and Anawim Community. He was passionate in his Catholic Faith and his strong belief in Our Lord. He had an incredible bond with many priest over the years. As of late, he had a great respect and fondness for Father Jones.
Reilly had an eventful life to say the least. He enjoyed telling new and old friends of his many adventures over the years.
Reilly was preceded by his parents and brother Thomas M Reilly. He is survived by brother Terrance H Reilly of Boulder CO. and countless friends most of whom he considered family.
There will be a graveside service at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery in Corning, NY.
