Toi Lynn Nehring 57, of Corning, NY passed away May 22, 2024.
She was born July 19, 1966, daughter of the late Greg Nehring Sr. and Joyce Nehring-Bowen.
Toi was a graduate of Corning East High School.
Toi was a nurse for 25 plus years. She worked at Corning Hospital, Founders Pavilion, St. Josephs Hospital, Elcor and Chemung Health facility. Toi was the first President of SEIU (Health Care Union) at Corning Hospital.
Toi was a life time member of the Women of the Moose Chapter 326 and member of the South Corning Fire Department.
Toi was a cheer mom for many years.
Toi is survived by her mother Joyce Nehring, brother Greg Nehring, spouse James Mixey, her sons Zachary Mixey and James Mixey, daughter Shannon Mixey, grandson Bryson Smith, granddaughter Lakelee Mixey, and her dogs Abbey, Gibbs, Keeva and Rocky, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Toi had a passion for caring for others and those who had no voice. She was the epitome of love and care. Her presence brought warmth and comfort to everyone around her. She had a heart of gold, always putting others' needs before her own whether it was a comforting hug, a listening ear, or a homemade meal, she knew exactly how to make everything better. Her nurturing spirit touched the lives of so many, leaving a lasting impact of kindness and compassion. We will always cherish and carry forward the lessons of love and care that she taught. She may be physically gone, but her love continues to surround those she loved, guiding through life's challenges with her unwavering support.
A memorial service will be held at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, 327 E. 2nd St, Corning, NY on Saturday June 1, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with the South Corning Fire Department Auxiliary, Women of the Moose service followed by Pastor Alan Snapp. Family and friends will gather at 2:00 p.m. for the Nurses Honor Guard ceromony followed by a celebration of Toi's life at the Corning American Legion, 8 River Road, Corning, NY catered by the Women of the Moose and Corning American Legion Auxiliary.
