Theresa J. Taylor, 92, of Gang Mills, Town of Erwin, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 16, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Born May 22, 1930 in Corning, NY to late Harry L. Hyde and Grace Murray Hyde.
Theresa was educated in rural schools and Addison Central School. She married Richard Kennedy on May 20, 1988. She was employed at Corning Glass Works, Steuben County Nursing and Corning Hospital. Theresa raised her family in Addison and was active in her community. Over the years Theresa was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, served on the town board, Rural Cemetery Association and was a community volunteer. Theresa built what many Addison locals knew as Fetherlea Farm on Tobin Road. Fetherlea Farm was a grandchild's paradise. Theresa and Richard had many types of animals and loved having the school children take field trips to their farm. Theresa enjoyed teaching children how to care for animals. Theresa put her heart and soul into Featherlea Farm and had many happy years with her husband and grandchildren there. In her later years Theresa enjoyed taking bus trips with her husband, visiting with neighbors whom she became great friends with and spending time with family.
Theresa is survived by her husband Richard Kennedy; daughter Doreen (Tim) Galas of Sebring, FL; grandchildren Lijah (Jen) Galas, Sarah and Michael Rought, Eliza, Raymond and Vanessa Taylor; great grandchildren, Emily, Molly, Leah and Jacob Payne. Siblings, Doris (Frank) Smith, Robert Hyde and Barbara (Paul) Rose. As well as nieces and nephews.
Theresa is predeceased by her daughter Diane Rought and son Alan Taylor.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Addison Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Addison Act & Do care of Frans Landing, 996 Addison Rd, Painted Post, NY 14870.
