Theodore “Ted” K. Imhoff, 87, of Corning, NY passed away Friday, March 14, 2025.
Ted was born in Brooklyn, NY, the son of Theodore Imhoff and Meta Bollemann. He attended P.S. 93, “93 million miles from the sun”, and Brooklyn Technical High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Air Force during which time he met Carol Matus who later became his loving wife of 67 years. Ted went on to attend Syracuse University where he majored in Industrial Design. Shortly after graduation from Syracuse University, he and Carol moved to Corning and where Ted worked as an engineer for Corning Incorporated from 1963 until he retired in 1994.
Throughout life Ted enjoyed nature, history and geography. He loved to travel with Carol and together they enjoyed trips to Europe, Asia, Canada, Jamaica and many places in the United States. In retirement, Ted and Carol skirted many upstate New York winters by snow-birding in Florida for 26 years.
Ted was predeceased by his mother Meta (Bollemann), father Theodore, and brother George (Edith Hamp). He is survived by his wife Carol (Matus), sons Eric (Amy Miller, sons Michael and Timothy) and John (Ann-Marie Andrews, sons Karl and Lucas), nieces Melissa Danielson (Brian, sons Asher and Joshua) and Adrienne Vacante (Mike, sons Bryce and Myles).
Ted will be fondly remembered for his artistic creativity, quiet generosity and devotion to family.
