Steven John “Steve” Riff of Addison, New York passed away Saturday, February 22, 2025, at the age of 73.
He was born to John W. Riff and Dorothy M. Hodge in Corning, New York on May 23, 1951.
Steve enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on July 26, 1972. He served six years as an Aerospace Ground Equipment Specialist until his honorable discharge on April 18, 1978. He had worked for Toshiba in Horseheads, NY for many years and retired from Pathways.
He was a former member of the Corning Moose Lodge 274. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, bowling and playing softball. He was a huge fan of the Kansas City Chiefs and loved watching them play. Oftentimes you would find him in Caton at the Riff Lodge he built with his brothers. He cherished the time spent there with his family. Steve was was well known for making excellent peanut butter fudge. He loved his peanut butter fudge.
Steve is survived by the mother of his daughter Mary Riff, his daughter, Rebecca Symonds and his granddaughter Ava Lyn Symonds all of Corning, NY; brother David Riff and sister-in-law Marilyn Bozich of Caton, NY, Tom and sister-in-law Judy Riff of Caton, NY and sister Linda and brother-in-law Brian Saunders of NC; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers Philip and Robert “Rabbit”. The family would like to thank his nieces Kristen Crans and Teresa Taft for the love, care and support they showed their Uncle Steve.
A celebration of life will be announced at a future date. Burial will be at the family plot in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning, NY.
