Shirley Anne Ross, 79, of Corning, NY who entered eternal life on August 15, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. Her spirit is carried on by her three children, six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, one surviving sibling and an extended family of relations and friends.
Shirley was born in Corning, NY on August 16, 1944, to Thomas Dorr and Mary Irene (Kittner) Woodhouse. She attended and graduated from St. Patrick’s Middle School and Corning Free Academy.
Shirley had worked as a waitress for Lodge on the Green, was a bus driver for T&T Bus Company and later working for Bell Atlantic Corporation as a phone operator.
Shirley was a member of All Saint’s Parish, Corning American Legion, Elks Lodge #1071 and the Corning Moose Lodge 274.
In her spare time, she loved going to the Casinos and playing pull tabs on her many outings.
She is survived by her children, Jeffrey and daughter-in-law Patty Swanson of Corning, Kimberly and son-in-law Tim Lebarron of Campbell and Jodi and son-in-law Sean Eighmey of Painted Post; her loving grandchildren Jeffrey, Josh, Jesse, Jesika, Brandon and Bailey, her beautiful great grandchildren, Summer, Makenna, Helena, Eliana, Gehrig, Lucas, Amelia and Raelyn; her brother, Richard Daniel Woodhouse; many nephews, nieces and special niece Ginny Woodhouse of Bath. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Robert Ross and siblings, Tom Woodhouse, Betty Bliss, Jim Woodhouse, Mary Speciale, Marjorie Lovell, Sally Thompson, Earl "Pete" Woodhouse and Charles Woodhouse.
The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. A Memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. Committal prayers and Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Corning, NY.
