Shirley Jo Koontz-Fisher

Shirley Jo Koontz-Fisher, 69, of Corning, passed away on November 25th, 2024, at home with her husband by her side. 

Shirley was born on February 4th, 1955, in Schuyler County to Edward and Mary (Croft) Koontz. 

Shirley was a renaissance woman. She worked at Guthrie and held many roles in her 35+ years with them. She also did 30+ years of home health care. She was passionate about her career, her clients and her family. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Shirley loved to document her time with her family by taking pictures and making scrap books. 

Shirley is survived by her soulmate, Paul Fisher; siblings, Donald (Karen) Koontz, Betty Koontz and Penny Koontz; children, Rhonda Smith, Shavon Koontz and Kyra Koontz; grandchildren, Jacqueen Fisher, Dominique Fisher, Unique Fisher, Alex Rivera, Xavier Smith, Zyanna Smith, Asher Knox and Seven Balkum; her stepsons and great grandchildren.

Shirley was predeceased by her parents, her sister Judy Farrow, and brother Gary Koontz. 

A service will be held December 7th at 11am at Friendship Baptist Church, 120 Pearl St, Corning, NY 14830.  

Shirley will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and her huge heart. She will be greatly missed.
