Corning, NY - Serterio "Seri" R. Ruocco, 89, of Corning, NY passed away Friday, November 16, 2018, surrounded by family at Corning Hospital.
He was born October 21, 1929, in Futani, Italy the son of Sebastian and Antoinette (Merola) Ruocco.
Seri was a U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Korean War, where he was a Purple Heart recipient.
He worked for the United States Postal service in Corning for over 30 years.
He was a member of All Saints Church, Lifetime member of the Corning VFW Post 524. Seri was an avid runner for many years and ran in the Boston Marathon and Wine Glass marathon amongst many other regional races. He was a beloved member of the Corning Community.
Seri is survived by his wife Donna of 65 years, Brother Joe, predeceased by his Brother Moe, sons Ralph (Patti) of Dover, NH, Michael (Lisa) of Fairport, NY, and Dan (Cathy) of Corning, NY. Six Grandchildren, Five Great-Grandchildren, several Nieces & Nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, 327 E. Second St., Corning, NY 14830 on Wednesday, November 21, 2018. A Memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Military Honors. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
In lieu of flowers Memorial Donations in Seri's name may be made to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
