Samuel Phillip Raplee

Samuel Phillip Raplee, 53,  passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord, after a brief illness, on April 13, 2023 with his life partner and her daughter at his side.

Samuel is survived by and will be forever cherished by his life partner, Penny Carlton and his 'crazy' pup, Zeb.  He'll always be remembered by his mother, Vena Raplee Good. Samuel is also survived by his children, Robert (Camille) Raplee and their children Addison, Celsey and Peyton, Jesse (Sarah) Raplee and their daughter Ezmee, and Tabitha Mershon, as well as his sister, Debra Easterly. He also leaves behind  an extended family of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Samuel was predeceased by his father, Samuel W Raplee, paternal grandparents, Walter(Buck) Raplee and Lydia and Philip Pipe, and maternal grandparents, Henry and Isabell Shaul.

Samuel  was born September 13, 1969 at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina. He grew up in the greater Finger Lakes area of NY and spent his last years in and around the Finger Lakes.

Samuel was an HVAC certified technician, but in his younger years he was a wanderer and became a man of many trades, from cook to ranch hand. He was a fabulous chef in the kitchen. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved recounting stories from his times in the woods or bullhead fishing.  He had a sweet sense of humor and it often brought a twinkle to his eye. Sam particularly enjoyed playing euchre and pool.

Samuel was a kind, gentle, quiet man; a thinker. Reflecting on Sam, I am drawn to the song "Scars in Heaven '' for it speaks of the Sam I knew and loved.  "The road he walked was anything but easy, and he picked up his share of scars along the way. But now he's standing in the sun, he's fought his fight, his race is run and the pain is all a million miles away. Because, the only scars in Heaven, they don't belong to me and you. There is no such thing as broken, and all the old will be made new. And the thought that makes me smile now, even as the tears fall down is that the only scars in Heaven are on the hands of the One that holds him now".  - Casting Crowns, Scars in Heaven.

Sam will be forever missed.

As per Sam's wishes there will be no public services. A private celebration of Sam's life will be held at a later date.
