Robert A. Hamilton, age 67, of Painted Post, NY, went home to his Lord and Savior on November 27, 2025, surrounded by the family who adored him. His loved ones were blessed to share Thanksgiving with him, a final day filled with gratitude, closeness, and the kind of love that defined his life.
Born on October 30, 1958, in Corning, NY, Robert was the son of Allen S. Hamilton and Darleen C. Barrett Little. From childhood on, he carried a quiet and unmistakable strength, steady, humble, and full of a gentle love that didn’t need words to be understood. He was a straight shooter, honest to the core, and the man everyone leaned on. To his family, he wasn’t just dependable, he was their rock.
Robert was funny and wonderfully sarcastic, with a sense of humor that could brighten even the hardest day. He loved his children with a fierce, wholehearted devotion, and his smile, the one that lit up an entire room, showed every bit of the love he felt for them and for his grandchildren. His love was warm, deep, and unwavering.
He worked hard his entire life in the railcar industry, carpentry, and various factories, always pressing forward not for recognition, but simply to care for the people he loved. In his later years at Fazzary’s Liquor Store, he found comfort in familiar faces, small conversations, and the steady rhythm of daily life.
Robert felt closest to peace in the outdoors, camping, fishing, and hunting in the quiet of the woods. Nature matched the calmness of his spirit and the simplicity of what he valued most: family, faith, and time spent together.
Robert leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen A. (Yonkin) Hamilton, the love of his life, his partner, and his heart. Their life together was built on devotion, resilience, laughter, and a bond that never wavered.
He was a proud and loving father to Angela Rivera and partner Joel Culbertson, Daniel Hamilton and partner Heidi Szucs, Jessica Champaign, Erica Lovell and partner Nicholas Campbell, and Alexandra Hamilton and partner Gage Luckner. His love for them was limitless. He was not only a father to his own children, but a father figure to many of their friends and even to friends of his grandchildren. Robert touched more lives than he ever realized, simply by being who he was.
He is also survived by his mother, Darleen Little, his brothers, Steven Hamilton and Charles Hamilton, his sister, Rebecca Yeager, and his mother-in-law, Linda Yonkin, each holding a meaningful place in his heart.
Robert cherished his grandchildren, Samantha Odgen, Jaidah Rivera, Austin Chouinard, Ben Chouinard, Keira Champaign, Aurora Willock, and Ronan Campbell. They were the purest joy of his life, and he celebrated them with every bit of love he had.
He was predeceased by his father, Allen S. Hamilton, and his father-in-law, Lawrence J. Yonkin.
Robert found comfort in his faith as a member of Higher Hope Church in Big Flats. His belief in his Lord and Savior brought him peace, especially as he prepared to go home.
The family will honor Robert’s life with a private celebration, holding close the memories, laughter, and love he leaves behind. His absence will leave a deep ache, but his presence will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert’s memory to CareFirst Hospice, 3805 Meads Creek Road, Painted Post, NY, whose compassion brought comfort when it was needed most.
