Obituary
Robert "Bobby" J. Root, age 58, of Savona, NY passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 22, 2022 at Corning Hospital.
Bobby was born June 2, 1963 in Elmira, NY to Gerald and Sheila (Doyle) Root.
He was a retired Corrections Officer at Monterey Shock Incarceration Correctional Facility. He enjoyed working with the wrecker crew at Watkins Glen International.
Bobby enjoyed fishing, hunting, drinking a cold beer and was a great grill master. He was full of life and enjoyed spending time with his friends.
Bobby is survived by his Mother, Shelia Root of Corning; Sisters, Elley Van Ness of Corning and Debra Jaanane of Corning; Nieces, Beth Harvey, Beca Richards, Katie Van Ness, Mandy Van Ness, Audrey Harvey and Emma Harvey; Nephew, Jacob Van Ness; Cousins, Jane Dillion, Matthew (Traci) Reed, Trevor Dillion and his faithful canine companion, Wyatt. He was predeceased by his father Gerald Root, his grandfather Robert Root, grandparents James and Eleanore Doyle and cousin Samatha Dillion.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
