Robert [Bob, Blades] McEnroe, age 82, passed away on October 7, 2021 at home with family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bob was born August 23, 1939 in Sharon, Connecticut to John F. and Florence Culligan McEnroe.
In May of 1964 he married Elaine (Stephanie) Seymour who survives.
Bob received both a BA and MA from Albany State University (now SUNY) and taught languages at his beloved CCC for 35 years before retiring in 2001.
Bob was pre-deceased by his parents and brothers John (Jack), Alfred and sister and brother-in-law Eileen and Guenther Strauss.
In addition to his wife Bob is survived by his sons Eric (Crystal Bonham), Jason (Lori), and Jared, his adored grandchildren, Nick, Rachel, Emily and Colin, and his brother Paul with wife Betty and many caring nieces and nephews from whom he received much support and encouragement during his illness.
Blades is also survived by a host of colleagues and friends who brought him happiness and peace with their visits and calls. Thank you Mike, Gordie, Neil, Ernie, Doug, Lyn, Sam, Mary…and many others!
There will be a Mass of Christian burial at 9:30 AM on October 22, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church on State Street in Corning, NY. A gathering for celebration of Bob’s life will follow Mass at the VFW on Baker Street in Corning, NY.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, a contribution to Corning Meals on Wheels, the Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice be considered.
