Richard C. Kio

Richard "Dick" C. Kio, age 74, of Caton, NY passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

He was born on January 6, 1951, in Corning, NY, a son of Clarence “Ted” and Helen (Winfield) Kio of Caton.

Dick was a father of five children, Jennifer Kio of FL, Jon (Tammy) Kio of Beaver Dams, Jeremy (Chonda Rodbourn) Kio of FL, Veronica (Mike) Ladieu of NC and Amanda Kio of Corning; a grandfather of ten, Tambrielle, Cody, Aleisha, Kory, Zachary, Sadie, Becca, Anthony, Charlie and Owen; a great grandfather to Kalysta and Oliva; a brother of LeRoy "Butch" Kio, Robert (Christy Newman) Kio of Caton and Clyde (Marina) Kio of FL; his partner Sandy Gillespie of Caton and her children Nikki (Sean Landon) Waring-Ingram of Painted Post, Christina (Dennis) Fanara of Buffalo and Amber (Tim) Fiori of FL. Their children Hunter, Mercedes, Bella, Eric, Luca, Timmy and Lila. 

He was preceded in death by his father Clarence "Ted" Kio, sister Laureen Kio, sister-in-law Patty Kio and son-in-law Thomas Ferry.

Dick believed in the power of family and dedicated his life to creating a loving and supportive home. He was a talented machinist who worked for Hardinge Brothers in Elmira, NY for over 40 years. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He loved country living and riding his John Deere tractor. In his free time he enjoyed spending time socializing with family and friends.

A celebration of Life will be held May 3rd at 1pm at the Corning VFW on Baker Street.
