Ralph D. Miller

Ralph D. Miller, age 94, of Corning, NY passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center. He was born May 1, 1927, in Sayre, Pennsylvania. He was the only child of Harold J. and Alice J. (Vough) Miller.

Ralph was a graduate of Waverly High School and received a certificate in electrical engineering from a trade school in Chicago, IL. He retired as a powerhouse mechanic for Corning Incorporated, where he worked for 42 years.

Ralph was a volunteer firefighter at the East Corning Fire Department for 62 years, where he served as an officer for 27 years. He was a past 3 term Chief of 13 years and the last active charter member.

He is survived by his children, Barbara Simcoe of AZ, David (Suzanne) Miller of Horseheads, NY, Clifford (Pauline) Miller of Corning, NY; Grandchildren, Heather Honce, Ryan Miller and Gregory Miller; Great Grandson, Alexander Honce. He is also survived by 7 step-children:  Billene Hebbard of Canastota, NY, Patricia Kresse of GA, Charlotte Markovic of Johnson City, NY, Nancy Conklin of MO, William Price of NC, Ernest Price of NC, Mary Whitmore of Binghamton, NY and numerous step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren.  He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Esther Runyon Miller in 1992, second wife, Agnes Runyon Price Miller, who passed hours before him, and step-son Tracy Price.

The family will have a private viewing on Sunday. All friends and family are welcome to attend viewing on Monday, April 25, 2022, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the East Corning Fire Department, Station 16, 11873 East Corning Road. Funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Committal services will be at Hope Cemetery, Corning.
