Patrick Filkins Obituary

Patrick G. Filkins, 45, of Painted Post, NY went home to Glory surrounded by his family on August 14, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY after battling complications from a massive heart attack on July 3, 2021.

Patrick was born March 17, 1976 in Oneonta, NY. He attended and graduated from Campbell-Savona High School in the class of 1995. He created a beautiful life with his wife of 21 years and was married on August 29, 2009. Patrick was a self-employed landscaper.

One of his greatest achievements in life was being in the United States Marine Corps. He wore the title of Marine with great pride. He also enjoyed being a Fireman with the South Corning Fire Dept. He was known around the community in so many ways, always with a smiling face wherever he went, he knew at least one person no matter where he was! He was known as Oskar the Clown in the early parade days with 3 of his children, along with some family members and friends from time to time.

Growing up Patrick loved anything to do with sports, especially Basketball, Soccer and Cycling. He loved anything to do with music, especially when it involved his kids even as they performed around the state. Some of his other favorite things he enjoyed were basketball games with his Dad “meet you at halftime”, late night conversations, Cracker barrel dates  with his Mom, ‘sibling sessions’ and joking with Tambri, bringing one of his favorite ladies, Ms. Eileen Hultzman, who recently turned 100 years old, “A Hot Coffee and a McChicken from McDonald’s, but most importantly he loved playing highly competitive games of Uno, Bones and Nines with his family! He cherished all the people he met along the way and he was known for always lending a helping hand. If you knew Patrick well, then you knew his secret favorite pastime (laugh). Patrick will be most remembered for his smiling face, his will to always help, and his love for his children, they are truly the greatest blessings in his life!

He is survived by his wife; Trenell Filkins, his children; Jaedyne, Jamiel, and Marquelle Filkins of Painted Post, Yacub (Naseemah) Khalifah of Atlanta, his parents; Teresa (papa- Phil) Jacobus of Punta Gorda; Guy Filkins of Savona, his sister; Tambri (James) Filkins of Bath, and his sister-in-law; Shaleigha Fisher of Corning. His grandson; Ahmed Khalifah, nieces and nephews; Ayden and Ryley O’Brien of Bath, Ja’Ovian (Mckenzie) Fisher and Tajwan Sides of Corning, Dequantae Fisher of Corning. Patrick is reunited in Heaven with his maternal and paternal grandparents, aunts and uncles as well as grandparents-in-laws, parents-in-laws, sister-in-law, Mary and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. As well as loving family members and friends, along with brothers in the USMC.
