Nathan T. Mapes Sr., loving husband and father, died unexpectedly on December 31, 2022 at his home.
He was born on September 30, 1975, to Gary L. and Joyce L. (Thomas) Mapes in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Nathan married the love of his life, Nancy Elena Sands on February 14, 2001 and shared 24 years together.
Nathan enjoyed his job as a Millwright working for the Diesel Plant at Corning Inc.
Growing up he loved working with wood and making projects. He was a true craftsman, if it wasn’t perfect it wasn’t right. He was a hunter, fisherman and a past member of the East Corning Volunteer Fire Department where he spent many hours for 20 years. His family was everything to him.
Nathan is survived by his loving wife Nancy Mapes; Children Ryan (Krissy) Mingos and their son Owen Mingos, who is his pride and joy, Nathan (April Simmons) Mapes Jr. and Jordan Mapes; parents Gary and Joyce Mapes; brother, Paul (Missy) Mapes and sister Krystal (Casey) Mapes Saltsman; uncle Harry (Margie) Mapes and aunt Almeda (Sam) Schrieber; his faithful canine companion Ben. He was predeceased by his aunt Carrie Mapes OBourn.
The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from 11am-1pm and 4pm-6pm. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Barner officiating.
