Michael E. Jakaba

Michael “Mike” E. Jakaba, age 58, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 3, 2025. He was born on May 24, 1966, in Corning, New York, to Dymtro Jakaba and Mary Ann Smith.

Mike attended Corning East High School.  He spent many summers at Ferenbaugh Campground and Recreation Center with his family and hanging out with friends. 

For decades, Mike worked long days as a cook in local restaurants in the Corning area.  Animals were always a part of Mike’s life, especially ferrets and dogs.  His recent companions were his dogs Jen and Duke.  He loved spending all his time with them.

Mike is survived by a sister, Mary Pepples, niece Nicole Gaylord and his cousins Linda Smith, Debra (Jeffrey) Fleming, Ken (Heidi) Smith, Bill (Nan) Smith and Tim Smith.

At Mike’s request there will be no services.
