Mary Ann Jakaba sadly passed away Friday, September 13, 2024, at Corning Center.
Mary Ann was born May 14, 1940, in Sayre, Pennsylvania the daughter of Earl E. Smith and Grace M. Harris.
On July 10, 1965 she married Dmytro Jakaba at St. Patrick's Church in Corning. She lost the love of her life, her husband, on June 26, 2007.
Mary Ann became a hairdresser which was a fulfilling and rewarding career choice for her. She had a passion for hairstyling, creativity, and a desire to help people look and feel their best. She welcomed people into her home not only for her hairdressing business but dog grooming as well.
For many years the family would spend time camping at Ferenbaugh Campground. In preparation, Mary Ann would spend hours baking and making sheet pans of trail mix. She enjoyed making crafts and crocheting. She loved being around people and helping them.
Most people who knew her knew how much she loved her animals. She always had a beloved dog or two or more by her side.
Mary Ann leaves behind her children Michael Jakaba, Mary Pepples and granddaughter Nichole.
There will be no services. A private burial will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery.
