Mary A. Schutt, age 81, of Corning, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Corning Hospital. She was born on June 8, 1939 in Hornell, NY, the late daughter of Clarence and Thelma Finley but raised by Ruth and Robert Taylor.
Mary was a graduate of Northside High School. She married Roy A. Schutt on August 27, 1960 in Corning, New York. She began her career working as a secretary for Corning Savings and Loan Association. She later took a secretarial position with Corning Glass Works in the ophthalmic department retiring with many years of service. She recently received her 40 years' service award pin.
Mary loved to read, sew and was a great artist. After retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband Roy and cherished spending time with her family. Mary and Roy were one of the oldest members of the Calvary Baptist Church of Gibson.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Roy A. Schutt; her son Steven Schutt of NYC; sister Connie Carson of Corning; brother-in-law's Floyd (Teresa) Schutt of Corning and Robert Slavin of Corning; sister-in-law Annie Schutt of Corning; nieces Kathy Nowlan of FL and Maureen Johnson of Vestal; nephew Michael Taylor of Johnson City; several great nieces and great nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter Pamela Schutt, brother’s Charles and Larry Finley, sister Dorothy Slavin, sister-in- law's Barbara Tallarida and Joyce Iannarilli, brother-in-law, Sonny Schutt and recently her beloved dog Dozer.
Family and friends are invited to call at Acly-Stover Funeral Home, 327 E. 2nd St., Corning on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 from 12- 2 p.m. Funeral services will follow there at 2:00 p.m. with Frank Williamee and Paul Schmick officiating. Committal prayers and Interment will follow at Hope Cemetery in Corning.
