LaVerne D. Rose Jr. Obituary

LaVerne "Junie" D. Rose Jr. age 90, of Lindley, NY passed away Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

A lifelong resident of Erwin and Lindley, NY, Junie was the son of LaVerne D. and Frances (Allen) Rose Sr.  He and his wife, Joanne E. Pardee Rose were married December 4, 1954 at the First Methodist Church of Painted Post and just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served his country in the United States Navy.  He honorably served from 1950 until his discharge in 1954.  After serving, he returned home to work for the City of Corning as a superintendent of Public works until 1972.  He then worked as a MEO for the Town of Erwin retiring in 1990.

A "jack of all trades", he was skilled in numerous fields. He could fix anything! He often volunteered his skills in building and construction to help those in need. He enjoyed working on anything mechanical. Junie was very generous and was always there for family and friends.

He taught his three sons to work hard, support family, and to cherish their possessions.  Junie always looked forward to the first day of deer season and small game hunting.  He moved to Lindley in 1986 where he enjoyed working around his land, spending time at the pond and operating his backhoe and tractor.

Junie and Joanne loved hosting gatherings and reunions at their residence in Lindley.  Junie especially enjoyed barbequing on his fire pit relishing the time spent there with family.  In his earlier years he loved spending time at their cottage on Lamoka Lake fishing, playing cards and having a few cold ones with his buddies.

He will be remembered for all the conversations, laughter and good times.  He will be deeply missed.

Left to cherish his memories are his Wife, Joanne E. Rose; Sons, LaVerne D. (Deb) Rose III, Timothy (Tina) Rose and Scott (Lisa) Rose; Grandchildren, Eric (Jessica) Rose, Casey Rose (Michael Mason), Cody Rose, Chelsea Rose, Zackarie Rose and Tyler Rose; Great Grandchildren, Haddie Rose, Taytum Rose, Porter Rose and Brinley Jo Mason; Sister, Jean Kriner; Sister-in-law, Linda Rose; several Nieces and Nephews.  He was predeceased by his father LaVerne D. Rose Sr., mother Frances Rose, brother, Harold (Butch) Rose and sister, Mae Cross

A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family with military honors.

Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Corning VFW Post 524 as he was a lifetime member.
