Joseph V. Durkin, 87 of Apple Ridge, formally Corning, NY passed away peacefully Monday, May 24, 2021 at Bethany Manor in Horseheads, NY.
Joe was born in Riverside, NY the son of the late Joseph P. and Elizabeth Murphy Durkin.
He was a devoted member of All Saints Parish in Corning, NY.
He was a member of the United States Army and he retired from Conrail after many years of service. He had a special love of German Shepherds, and raised several through out the years.
Joe is survived by his sister Pat Sample of Elmira, NY and many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He will be greatly missed.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Bernard (Gertrude) Durkin, and Gerald Durkin. His sisters, Betty Durkin, Mary Louise Durkin, Helen (Charles) Saunders, Margaret (Bruce) Personious, Delores (Arthur) Overstrom and brother in law Richard H. Sample, one niece and three nephews.
At Joe's request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, June 2, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church followed by a graveside service at Corning's St. Mary's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to All Saints Parish, Corning, NY or a charity of one's choice.
