It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother and grandson, Jordan L. Mapes on November 23, 2024. He was a light in this world, and now we ask to continue shining Jordan’s light by carrying it within us in our own lives.
Jordan, age 22 of Corning, NY was born June 12, 2002, the son of the late Nathan T. Mapes and Nancy E. (Sands) Mapes.
He was a graduate of Corning-Painted Post High School, (Class of 2020). Jordan loved working for his Uncle Paul, and did so from his sophomore year until the summer of 2024. He was recently employed as a security guard working for the various Corning Inc plants.
Jordan was a gentle giant and his heart was bigger than the universe. He was a great friend to many, loved working on his car, and he was our go to with everything computer related. Every week he would give his nephew Owen a Hot Wheel car. He had a kind soul, always thoughtful and very funny.
He is survived by his mother Nancy Mapes and her fiancée Josh Scott, brother Ryan Mingos and his wife Kristina Eisenhart-Mingos and their son Owen, brother Nathan Mapes and his partner Macayla Mosher, grandparents Joyce and Gary Mapes and grandparents Paul and Mel Burgert, several aunts, uncles and cousins and his faithful companion-his dog Ash. He was predeceased by his father Nathan.
A Celebration of life will be held December 12, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Quackenbush Hill Church, 471 College Ave, Corning, NY 14830.
Memorial donations in Jordan’s name may be made to the Animal Care Sanctuary in Milan, PA where he adopted Ash, Alfie's Rescue or Skywatch Drone Search and Recovery.
