John LaVarnway Obituary
John J. LaVarnway, 74 of Campbell, NY passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Robert Packer Hospital.
He was born July 29, 1946 to Harry and Emily M. (Hendrickson) LaVarnway. He married Beverly A. Wales on April 8, 1967; she predeceased him on June 7, 2016.
John retired as a MEO from the Steuben County Highway Department.
He is survived by his daughters Paula (Mike) Lewis of Coopers Plains and Yvonne (Greg Mathews) Tyler of Savona; grandchildren, Jessica (Paul Sabins) Sutryk, Melissa (Andy) Morrison, Mitchell (Sabrina Cordero) Lewis and Gabe Mathews; great grandchildren Damian, Kendra, Landon and Ayden; daughter-in-law Cathy Filkins-LaVarnway; several nieces, nephews and step-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was predeceased by his son Michael J. LaVarnway and his brothers Nick and Chuck LaVarnway.
The family will receive friends at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Thursday, April 15, 2021 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 6:00 p.m. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bradford Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in John’s name to the Campbell American Legion.
