Hazel Ann Smith

Hazel Ann Smith, age 90, of Corning, New York, passed away peacefully at Bethany Manor on Thursday, June 4, 2026.

Born on July 21, 1935, in Mouth of Seneca, West Virginia, Hazel was the daughter of the late Floyd Kisamore and Rosa Kimble Kisamore.

Hazel dedicated many years of service to the Corning-Painted Post School District as a school bus driver. She was known for her strong work ethic, friendly nature, and the many lives she touched throughout her career.

She was married to Donald Ralph Smith, who preceded her in death.

Hazel enjoyed life's simple pleasures. She loved dancing, camping, and traveling in her camper. Country music was always close to her heart, especially bluegrass music. She was a proud member of the Southern Tier Bluegrass Association and enjoyed the friendships and memories made through her love of music. During the summer months, she cherished her time at her seasonal site in Paradise Park, where she made many lasting friendships and could often be found riding her golf cart around the campground visiting friends and neighbors.

Hazel is survived by her children, Randy (Deb) Smith of Corning, Ronda Mcllwain of Corning, Becky (John) Hood of Enid, OK; her grandchildren, Rachel (Shawn) Kelster, Randy Smith Jr., Maggie (Jason) Hammond, Erica May, Nicole Hood, and Bryan Hood; her sisters, Rettie (Roger Lee) Barger of Maysville, West Virginia, Mae Goldizen of Liberty, West Virginia, and Gloria Bennett of Cabins, West Virginia; her brother, Floyd Kisamore Jr. of Louisa, Virginia; 7 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, parents, and brothers, Jacob "Buddy" Kisamore, Denton Kisamore, and Dayton Kisamore, sisters Ressie Bible, Marie Carr and Rosalee Choate.

Family and friends are invited to call at Acly-Stover Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Bath National Cemetery, where Hazel will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband.

Hazel's love of family, friendship, music, and the outdoors will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
