Gary G. Harndon

Gary G. Harndon, 71, of Painted Post, NY passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 15, 2024, at Robert Packer Hospital, following a brief illness.

He was born on August 18, 1952, in Corning, NY the son of Larry and Ellen (Mayes) Harndon. 

Gary was a 1970 graduate of West High School, who went on to build, own, and operate a successful business, A1 Landscaping and Contracting. He was a very devoted family man, with a passion in life for his work, his garden, and his dogs. Gary had several hobbies to include wood-working, hunting, motorcycle riding, and bird watching.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife of 26 years, Nancy Harndon of Painted Post, NY; son Shawn Harndon of Painted Post, NY; daughter Heidi Dean (Robert) of Conway, SC; step-daughter Allisan Copp (Nate) of Soddy Daisy, TN; brother Larry Reedy (Addie) of Painted Post, NY; and sisters Bonnie Butler (Joe) of Elmira, NY, Deborah Corey (Tom) of Mineral Bluff, GA, Sharon Maynard of Painted Post, NY, and Pamela Harndon of Painted Post, NY; brother in law Mike Heverly; grandchildren, Hope, Xena, Wesson, Kaitlyn Harndon, Zackary Dean, Kyleigh Dean, Chloe, Nick, Harrison, and Carson Copp; along with several nieces and nephews.  Gary was preceded in death by his father, Larry Harndon; mother Ellen (Mayes) Harndon; sisters Mary-Ellen Harndon and Janice Campbell.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 20th, 2024, at the Grace United Methodist Church in Corning, NY 14830, (191 Bridge Street).
