Floyd "Sparky" Mayers Jr.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Floyd “Sparky” Mayers Jr., who left us peacefully on June 3rd, 2025, at the age of 69, after a brief illness.  He passed at home surrounded by his loving wife Marcine and two sons John and Robert.

Sparky was a devoted husband to his wife Marcine and they shared 44 years of marriage.  He was also a loving and dedicated father to both of his sons.   

Sparky was born on October, 5th 1955 in Corning, New York.  He was the son of Floyd and Bernice Mayers.

Sparky started his 42 year career with the Railroad Industry directly after his completion of high school at the age of eighteen years old.  After retirement, Sparky and his wife Marcine built their dream home in Florida where they spent their winter months for nearly ten years.  They have been blessed with an amazing group of friends in both Corning and Florida, which they enjoyed spending time with.  

Sparky enjoyed the outdoors.  He loved hiking, gardening, and especially fishing trips with his life long best friend John Button.  Sparky’s gentle spirit, quick wit, and generous heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.  He taught his sons the importance of hard work, honesty, and integrity.  He taught them the importance of doing the right thing, even when no one was watching.  

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Marcine, his sons, John (Kelsey) and Robert (Olivia), brother in law (Kurt), nieces, nephews, dear friends, and his rescue cat and companion, Rascal. Sparky is predeceased by his father Floyd H. Mayers Sr., mother Bernice (Reed) Mayers, and many friends that he was blessed to have throughout his life.

There will be a private family burial.  The family will received friends on September 14, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Corning American Legion.

With deep sorrow, we take comfort in knowing that Sparky's love will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched. He may be gone from our sight, but never from our hearts.
