Evelyn Lucille Peckham Obituary

Evelyn Lucille Peckham

November 10, 1937 - June 7, 2026

Some people leave their mark on the world through great achievements. Evelyn Lucille Peckham left hers through simple acts of love, kindness, and devotion to her family.

Evelyn, 88, of Caton, New York, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side, surrounded by the love she spent a lifetime giving to others.

Born on November 10, 1937, in Corning, New York, she was the daughter of John and Elouise R. (White) Sproule.

Evelyn lived a simple life, and she was happy with it. She never needed much to bring her joy. A visit from family, a quiet day at home, the sight of deer crossing the yard, birds gathering outside her window, or simply watching the beauty of nature unfold around her was enough to make her smile.

She was a woman of gentle strength, quick wit, and a calm presence that made others feel at ease. She had a way of helping people without seeking recognition and caring for others without expecting anything in return. Her kindness was not loud. It was steady, genuine, and reflected in the way she lived each day.

As a homemaker, Evelyn poured her heart into caring for her family. Home was where she felt most content, and she worked tirelessly to make it a place of comfort, warmth, and love. Her greatest accomplishment was not something that could be measured. It was the family she nurtured and the lives she touched.

She loved deeply and completely. Her children, grandchildren, and the generations that followed were the treasures of her life. The lessons she taught were often unspoken. Be kind. Appreciate the simple things. Love your family with all your heart.

Evelyn shared her life with her husband, Richard Peckham, and together they raised their family and built a lifetime of memories.

She is survived by her children, Richard Peckham, John Peckham, William Peckham, Darlene Birzzee, Travis Peckham, and Chad Peckham, along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren who will carry her memory forward.

She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Peckham, her daughter Marlene Allen and brother, James Sproule.

In accordance with her wishes, there will be no public services.

Though Evelyn's life was quiet and uncomplicated, the love she gave was extraordinary. The chair where she sat may now be empty, and the window through which she watched the wildlife may seem a little quieter, but the warmth she brought to her family remains. Her life was a reminder that happiness is found not in having more, but in appreciating what is already around us.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. Her story was not written in grand accomplishments or worldly possessions. It was written in family dinners, caring hands, warm smiles, and a heart that found joy in life's simplest gifts. That is a legacy that will never fade.
