Diana Marie Dates, 72, died Monday afternoon on March 12th 2018 at her home after a brief illness.
She was born March 27th 1945 in Corning, NY, the daughter of Myron and Lenora Decker.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years Daryl L. Dates, her children Cynthia (Mark) Brandt, Elizabeth (John) Forenz and Daryl J "DJ" (Rachel) Dates, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and by her sister and brother-in-law Barbara and Jack Spaulding, her brother-in-law and sister in-law Dale and Stephanie Dates and her sister-in-law Beverly Dates.
She was deeply involved with all her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren lives, and with them made fairy gardens, cookies, and ginger bread houses.
She had a natural talent for art, whether it was watercolors, oil and acrylic painting, calligraphy, mixed media, or pottery. She graduated from Corning Free Academy in 1963 and from Corning Community College in 1984, with a Fine Arts degree, where her paintings can still be found on display.
The ladies small group that Diana attended was a pleasure for her, and a part of her daily devotion to her Lord and Savior. Her garden and landscaping at her home in Thurston teeming with blackberries, raspberries, and apple trees a testament of her love for nature.
She was always kind and generous to all who knew her and she will be missed by her friends and loved ones.
We will celebrate her life at the Victory Highway church on April 7th at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CareFirst (Hospice) www.carefirstny.org or Empowering International www.empoweringinternational.org
