David Eugene Sowersby, born on May 25, 1944, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. A devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great grandfather, David was a man who lived with quiet strength and a passion for the simple joys in life.
He is survived by his wife, Eldona Marie Sowersby, with whom he shared a life of love and partnership. David was a proud and loving father to his daughters Kim (Paul Ronk), Mandy, Michelle (Paul Miles), Gail (Venu Yama), and Paula (Charlie Hicks), and his son David Cameron (Tim Potter). He was a proud grandpa to Donald, Natasha, Caitlyn, Jacob, Jordan, Tyree, Halle, Liadan and Priya. And lastly his great grandkids Kira and Braeden. His family was his greatest joy, and he took pride in their accomplishments and the lives they built.
David found great pleasure in the timeless music of the Grand Ole Opry. His interests included racing, trains, and sports. David was a devoted fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and cheered for the Green Bay Packers. He worked for over 35 years at Ingersoll Rand and in his retirement years he drove a school bus which he loved.
He will be remembered for his warm heart, his humor, a raised eyebrow when feisty and a contagious smile. David's life was one well-lived, and he leaves behind a family and community that will miss him dearly.
A private family gathering will be held to celebrate David’s life and honor the many ways he touched the hearts of those around him. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Something he'd like to say often was "Laissez les bons temps rouler." Let the good times roll dad, tell Uncle Jim We love and miss you both so much.
