Clinton Searl Janes, Jr. died October 13, 2022. He was born in Washington, D.C. on September 29, 1928 to Clinton Searl Janes and Bulah Dewey Janes. He grew up in Elmira Heights and graduated from Syracuse University cum laude in Chemistry. He was employed by Corning Glass Works as a petrographer in 1950, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, received a law degree from Duquesne University, and returned to Corning as a patent attorney in 1962. He was an Eagle Scout and was very proud that his son and grandson followed that tradition. He was fond of classical music, especially opera. Clint love travel, had visited all the U.S. states and all the continents. He circumnavigated the world 13 times. He had a lifelong interest in Bible study and was a faithful church goer, serving in various church positions of trust.
He married Lois Schoonover who survives him on April 10, 1955. Other survivors include a son Clinton S. Janes III (Debra Todd Berger), daughter Caprice S. Waller (Franklyn Byers Waller), and grandchildren Franklyn B. Waller, Jr., Peter J. Waller, Clinton S. Janes IV, Alyssa G. Janes, and two great granddaughters Natalie and Clara Waller. Also, nieces, Sandra Morgan, Rhonda Wilcox, Kathleen Warfield, nephews Edward Janes Jr., Lawrence Janes, and Jason Fay. He was predeceased by his brother Edward F. Janes and sister-in-law Juanita Derrig.
At his request funeral arrangements are private at the convenience of the family. Memorials are appreciated to the Corning-Painted Post Historical Society or the Corning Meals on Wheels.
