Carol Imhoff, Age 88, of Corning, NY passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025.
Carol was born on April 11, 1937 in Kenmore, New York to Emma E. (Gadra) and John Joseph Matus. She attended Kenmore High School and then attended the University at Buffalo - Millard Fillmore School of Nursing. While studying to become a Registered Nurse, she was introduced to Ted Imhoff who soon became her loving husband of 67 years. After marriage, she and Ted went to Syracuse where she was a nurse at University Hospital, and later moved to Queens, NY where she worked as an ER nurse at Mount Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. She moved to Corning in 1963 where she worked and raised her family. She worked for several years at Corning Hospital and finished her career working in the private practice of Dr. Paul T. Donahue.
Throughout her life Carol enjoyed travel, visiting Canada, many places in the US, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Jamaica, and Thailand. She thoroughly enjoyed retirement with Ted and spent the winters of 26 years vacationing in Florida. She was an artist at heart and loved painting with oils and watercolors.
Most of all, Carol will be remembered for her caring and giving nature. She was always doing something for the benefit of others; whether it was for the patients in her care, cooking and doting on her family, enjoying friends, or taking care of her husband, she always gave it everything she had.
Carol is predeceased by her parents John and Emma Matus, and husband Theodore K. Imhoff. She is survived by sons Eric (Amy Miller, sons Michael and Timothy) and John (Ann-Marie Andrews, sons Karl and Lucas), nieces Melissa Danielson (Brian, sons Asher and Joshua) and Adrienne Vacanti (Mike, sons Bryce and Myles) and sister-in-law Edith Imhoff (Hamp).
