Heaven got a new angel when Carmen Lydia Serrano Hamilton (40) went to be with her Lord on July 1, 2018.

Carmen was from Corning, New York, formerly of Fajardo and Luquillo, Puerto Rico.

Carmen was a devoted, loving mother to Alexandrya (18), Angelyna (16), David (15) and Malike (12) Hamilton.

It was her unshakeable faith in the goodness of the Lord that gave her the strength and determination, even during the toughest of times, to provide her children with a good home, delicious meals, care and nurturing, education and, most of all, undying love. Her world revolved around her beloved children. Carmen created great memories with the children.

In the summer, the family enjoyed fun in the sun at the area's natural swimming holes and lakes, as well as occasional horseback riding with a friend. At the holidays, Carmen spent months saving and preparing so the children would awaken to wonderful Christmas surprises.

Carmen recently took great delight in a trip to the Rockwell Museum of Western Art with her daughter Angelyna.

In addition to her four children, Carmen is survived by her children's father, Dan Hamilton, his parents and step-parents, her "like-a-daughter" Savannah Briggs, her mother (Maritza C. Ortiz) and step-father (Luis F. Ortiz), her sister (Meiling M. Serrano Carrion), two brothers (David A. Serrano Carrion and Pedro D. Serrano), and countless others whose lives were forever brightened by her generosity, friendship and purity of heart. Ready to greet her in heaven are her cherished father David Serrano Figueroa and her beloved grandparents.

A true animal lover, Carmen welcomed many stray pets into her home over the years, and leaves behind 3 cats and a dog.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
