Barbara L. Crandall

Barbara L. Smith, loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at her home. 

She was born on October 27, 1956, in Corning, New York to parents Elwin and Lynna Smith. 

Barbara married the love of her life, David Crandall on September 21, 2001. Together they raised three beautiful children Stephanie, John and Mike. 

She loved tending to the flowers in her gardens and especially loved spending those times gardening with her daughter.  She enjoyed long rides in the car with her husband to find a park or picnic spot to enjoy the day as she loved nature and walking in the woods.  She was creative and gathered many items from nature to create beautiful artwork and crafts, that she generously shared with her family and friends.  She could be found frequenting yard and estate sales, and always found the best deals or something she could repurpose into a beautiful piece of artwork or craft. Barbara loved music and enjoyed playing her bongo drums to accompany her husband on the guitar. She was a wonderful cook and made the grandchildren many a delicious baked good. 

Barbara is survived by her husband of 23 years David Crandall; children Stephanie Smith (Russel Jones), John Smith (Nichole Smith) and Mike Crandall (Tara Dochstader); sisters Jeanann Grimm (Dennis Plumley), Millie (Nathan) Spangenberg; brother; Newt Smith; grandson Cody Smith (Kerigan Allen); 16 beloved grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

A private burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
