Anthony A. “Al” Clayberger, Jr. celebrated the ultimate Independence Day on July 4th, 2022.
Born the son of Anthony A. and Dorothea N. (Kerchner) Clayberger, Al was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, William and Joseph.
Al is survived by his wife of 58 years, Delores V. (Woodard); his children, Anthony III and Leslie (Aaron) Haynes; grandchildren, Diana, Sara, Gabriel, and Gillian; sister, Dorothea Williams; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Corning Incorporated journeyman toolmaker and member of the Local 1000 union for over 50 years, Al graduated from Bradford High School and earned a degree in Metallurgical Engineering through Corning Community College.
Al enjoyed his family, travel, and camping. An avid reader, Al could be found absorbed in a book or studying history. He became a self-taught builder, architect, electrician, and plumber, who spent his life focused on his family with immersion in his children’s and grandchildren’s activities and events. His devotion and diligence extended to friends, ball players, and anyone who needed him.
Al’s Celebration of Life will be held on July 30, 2022 at 11:00am at Grace Community Church, 580 W. Water St, Painted Post, NY.
