Almeda Mapes Schreiber

Almeda Mapes Schreiber, 67, of Savona, New York passed away peacefully at Bampa's House on August 4, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.

Almeda was the loving daughter of Hugh Mapes and Betty Gee born January 20, 1957, in Corning, New York.

If you spent any time at the Corning Radisson, you would often see Almeda tending to the housekeeping crew as their manager.  

Almeda was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Carrie J. Mapes OBourn.  She will be lovingly remembered by her husband; Samuel Schreiber Jr., the love of her life for 46 years, of Savona, and children Debbie Axtell and Larry (Wendy) Axtell both of NC; siblings Harry Mapes of Corning, Gary (Joyce) Mapes of Corning and Delores (Jack) Andrews of Spencer; her beautiful grandchildren, Courtney Axtell, Larry Jr. Axtell, Matthew Axtell and Austin Axtell; many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.

Almeda loved flowers, wild life, and living life to its fullest.  She spent many hours quilting and especially loved riding her 4 wheeler around. If you knew or knew of Almeda, you knew how much she loved her family and would often say, " Just us now 4 ever."  

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
