Albert J. Berleue
November 15, 1933 - May 23, 2021
Albert James Berleue, 87, of Lamoka Lake Road, Bradford, N.Y. passed away peacefully on May 23. His devoted wife of 67 years, Betty Berleue, and daughter Rhonda were at his side.
Albert was born on the shores of East Keuka Lake, Barrington, N.Y. in 1933. A graduate of Dundee Central School, he was an Eagle Scout, an avid outdoorsman and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army as a member of the world famous 10th Mountain Division Mountaineers, stationed at Camp Hale, Colorado. It was here that he met the love of his life, Betty. He married her and they both traveled back to N.Y. after his discharge, to establish a life in Dundee.
Albert worked at Corning Glass Works and through hard work and determination, became a Lab Technician in the Research and Development branch of the company. While he was employed, he earned recognition as a named researcher and developer on three U.S. Patents.
Upon retiring from Corning Glass, Albert and Betty established a successful real estate firm, Berleue Real Estate, with offices in Corning and Bradford and specialized in lake front, commercial and farm properties.
Albert’s love of animals eventually drew him to become a member of the N.Y. Thoroughbred Racing Association and he became a breeder/owner of fifteen registered Thoroughbred horses, racing at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Canandaigua, N.Y.
Albert is predeceased by his parents, William and Gladys Berleue of Dundee, N.Y. his sisters; Mary, Charlotte, Louise, Olive and Barbara and brothers; William and Franklin. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty Malm Berleue; Daughter Rhonda Berleue Darling, Corning, NY; Son Gregory (Marilyn) Berleue, Jacksonville, FL; Grand Daughters Alexis (Eric) Darling Starns, Erwin, N.Y. and Ashley (Collin) Darling, Buffalo, N.Y.; Step-grandson Michael (Wendy Griffin) Barsham, Fairport, N.Y. and Step-granddaughter Kelly (Eric Johnson) Barsham, Chagrin Falls, OH. Albert had 5 great-granddaughters, 6 step great-grandchildren and numerous niece and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
